FTP transfer speed

What are people getting for their transfer speeds via FTP. I often get 3 to 4 KB/S and have never gotten anything better than 55 KB/S (which I rarely get). Usually it’s in the 25 to 35 KB/S range.

Downloading via the web, I usually get about 250 to 300 KB/S.

Why is my FTP so slow? What are other people getting for transfer speeds?

Thanks!

I get about 350kb/s on FTP and web on a regular basis.

Uploads I get a measly 40 kb/s(maxing my cable).

Right now I am taking a forum SQL backup, at 339kb/s via HTTP.

With residential DSN or cable modem service the upload speeds are slower than download. You may want to do some speed tests here - http://www.dslreports.com/stest - to see what your line is running at.

With comcast cable I am lucky to be up!

I personally am fine with 128k connection, as long as it works.

My Verizon DSL works great. I have 3mb/768k service for just $29 a month. Verizon is running a new deal for 768/?? service for only $15 a month. That’s less expensive than dialup!

No phone, no verizon, I have verizon in texas, it is grea,t almost 100% uptime on it  its $29 there for the 1.5/768k

I pay 38 US a month for 5mb/800k cable access in Toronto Cananda. And I always get 100k up to Jodos ftp.
