My client has set this up and I have set up the MX tables in my VPS but email is not working - we’ve waited a day and it’s not happening yet. I did this with another client (not google) and it happned within 20 minutes.
Did I miss something.

it is best to check on a dns check site like checkdns.net, it gives the best answers in such cases.
It is still not working. Checkdns.net gives me an error and the MX lookup tool at MX Lookup Tool - Check your DNS MX Records online - MxToolbox doesn’t find any results.
My customer sends himself an email from a different account he gets “undeliverable” return message but when I send an email to him, I don’t get the undeliverable, he just never receives it. Is that still a propogation thingy?
I’m looking at my MX records in plesk and everything seems to be cool according to googles instructions. do I need to add a CNAME record? it doesn’t seem to let me do that.
What do you think.
Ok now the MX lookup tool is returning this error:
ns2.yourcustomidx.com did not respond with MX records for ‘mail. headwatersproperty .com’
ns2.yourcustomidx.com is my nameserver. Do I need to add an MX record to that as well? Please help me understand why this is not workin.
nslookup -type=mx headwatersproperty .com NS1. YOURCUSTOMIDX. COM
Server: NS1. YOURCUSTOMIDX. COM
Address: 64.71.237.246#53
nslookup -type=mx headwatersproperty. com NS2. YOURCUSTOMIDX. COM
Server: NS2. YOURCUSTOMIDX. COM
Address: 64.71.237.247#53
Please ensure they are correctly created.

mail.headwatersproperty.com. MX (20) ALT1.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM.
mail.headwatersproperty.com. MX (20) ALT2.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM.
