How to read varbinary fields?

Hi,
I am trying to read a varbinary date field (e.g 1262525887[SIZE=2][FONT=sans-serif]) from a mysql db, from an asp page.[/FONT][/SIZE]
I get this error:
[SIZE=4][FONT=Times New Roman][SIZE=2][FONT=Arial]Microsoft VBScript runtime [/FONT][/SIZE][SIZE=2][FONT=Arial]error ‘800a000d’[/FONT][/SIZE][/FONT][/SIZE]
