IIS logs

please teach me about how IIS log and webalizer/AWstats works.
I have complaints about big log files consuming account space and I’m not sure if customer can securely delete it without lose statistics on awstats, or how maintain clean and tight log folder.

thanks,
Martin

anybody has answers to help me??

I belive the log files are only kept for 7 days in your account and that the past day is only needed for the stats programs to work correctly.

I’m not sure about that. I saw old logs.
Should be in this way.
may be JH crew could give us an answer

If the customer has large amounts of traffic it will certainly take much space.

All but each days currently runnings log(i.e. don’t delete today’s log) can be safely downloaded and removed. Or just removed, but if they don’t intend to keep them, just turn off the tranfer log option.

Thanks Stephen!
Exist any script capable to maintain log tightly automatically?
martin

you should try google for “remote backup tools”.
you will find manny apps for the job. i just read about SiteShelter app, look good for the Job.
