Jodo gave 2 of my email addresses to a 3rd party (jaxtr.com)??!
I received 2 of these emails on 2 different addresses before I realised who gave my addresses out. I’m really surprised at this.
I do not want the email address I gave to JodoHost or belonging to any of my (or my clients’) domains being given out to ANYONE outside JodoHost!

On Dec 23, 2008, Manish Srivastava sent you an invitation to check out jaxtr, the service that lets you call anyone, anywhere for free using your phone.
I’m sure the intention was legit and it seemed like a good idea at the time, but it’s just not acceptable.
I have no idea why I would want the services of Jaxtr anyway. What was the reason for doing this?
Isn’t there a clause in the TOS or somewhere, giving assurance that JodoHost won’t give out customers’ private information to third parties?

This was not intentional, Manish signed up and jaxtr did a plugin that emailed everyone in his address book
I have gotten similar mails from a business card contact site from other people(not anyone from here or on our tech team) I really wish such companies would ask PERMISSIONS before doing this. The jaxtr services looks interesting but this action alone prevented me from signing up.
Just a note, I also complained about it to Manish.

I didn’t know they will take all mail address from my mail box and will send mail to them. This is the first time I am using any such service. I got more then 10 complain about it. I was thinking to use there international call service but now I am thinking to cancel my account.
Oh dear. I feel a bit bad for getting so uptight about it, but I thought it was specific to me (or a few people) and an intentional action, so I wanted to be clear it shouldn’t happen again.
But I understand it was one of those intrusive “social” apps. Facebook does the same thing if you give them your Yahoo/Hotmail password. It’s very intrusive and I think people often don’t know that’s going to happen. I’ve had friends suddenly realise they’ve emailed heaps of people about their new Facebook account and almost had a heart attack! Ex lovers, ex-in-laws, all those old undeleted email addresses! Very funny at times.
Fair enough.. hopefully they’ll get some complaints and stop doing that. Thanks for explaining. Hope they don’t on-sell them, that’s the main concern. Companies would pay a lot for thousands of legitimate email addresses.
jaxtr has the capability to be different due to usng your regular mobile phone to my understanding, and giving you a cheap voip local number to make the other call through, much like an internet calling card.
But as I said these marketing tactics are bad and won’t get my support.
