joomla anyone

I have a bit of a situation

I recenetly finished a web site for a client. I installed joomla on there, added a free template ( edited a little to fit my needs). The site is getting popular now and it is recieving over 5000 hits a month.

My client is well aware that joomla is open source and that the fee that was charged was for the implementation, fixes, modules instals etc. In now way did we charge for the software.

We recievd an email from a person stating that they are giving support for joomla in my area. He then proceed to create an account and then somehow grant him self super user rights and add some content on the site saying that he is the joomla Developer.

I think is something that is totaly un profesional and it is an intrusion on our system and install, from what i know he has no right to do so.

however I am looking for some help from users in the forum for the following:

1- How did he grant himself super user by himself?
2- What legal actions can we take since he unlawfully can into the site and edited the content.

We are open to anything here any help as we plan to keep using joomla.

Has anyone any experience with this? any ideas help would be nice.

Erik

If your client never gave him permission , I would report him to his isp and talk to a lawyer.

Gaining unauthorised access to private information is an offence, you should contact the authorities but if you don’t have a way of tracking down who he is, it might not do much good.

If he claims to be a developer, he should give you his name and contact details. Sorry I haven’t used Joomla so I don’t know how secure or otherwise it is.

You should definitely get onto the Joomla boards about it and see what they say.
