Mail Server

Earlier the mail server was extremely slow and things were backing up. I talk to live chat and they confirmed there was a delay due to the backup running.

I still haven’t received some of the emails I had sent from other accounts. Does anyone know if there are still any issues.

Sorry, I was unable to reply… on the road.

I think it was mail2… but I see that the messages that were sent to me friday night around midnight started showing up after 8:00PM Saturday night.

There must have been one heck of a queue back up!

mail2 isn’t a mail server.. its a backup relay server
it can either be mail1, mail3 or mail4

This is what the account shows:

Mail relay mail2.starcityhosting.netmail4.starcityhosting.net

So how does one read the above?

You have turned on mail relay for your domain. So account shows Mail relay mail2.starcityhosting.netmail4.starcityhosting.net. Please open a ticket if you are facing any email problems.

Do we NOT want mail relay on? Please explain the pros/cons for turning it on or off?

We were facing mail problems and I had talked to Live Chat Friday night. They said it was due to a mail backup.

I trusted after the backup finished things would be flowing again. It wasn’t until Saturday night did I start receiving the mail that had been sent to me on Friday night.

This should not be the case due to a backup.

At this point mail is flowing, but I would like to make sure that things are configured correctly. Do I want mail relay on or off?

Thank you.
