Is the current power outage in Florida affected incoming power to the datacenter?
Will get it checked. No real worries with UPS and dual genset backups at the DC.
DC is on generator power, I fly back to Texas to be with family and all the action hits, wow!
I called and got updates at the facilities we have servers and some from friends who have elsewhere, from NAP and Miami Exchange:
NAP: Power is restored but they were on generator for a while, we still have a rack with servers and all our routing gear is here as well.
Miami Exchange: Power is still out on one of the two grid feeds so generators are staying on to ensure UPSes are fed properly and power remains stable.
My condo complex: power is still out, hopefully it comes back soon I moved all my meats and vegetables to the freezer for usage when I return.
Places we know of that did not fare so well:
Miami Data Vault, generators did not come on automatically and had to be manually started UPS systems did not hold long enough and the facility went down.
People having general choas and confusion as a no prep power outage has hit, Public is running out of water and charcoal (Publix after Wilma isntaled gensets in at every store and they can run off grid!)
