MS Visual Web Developer Express won't install

I’m trying to install Visual Web Developer Express, the free version from MS.

The setup process hangs about 3/4 of the way along (see attached GIF). I’ve tried closing all apps, rebooting, stopping my security (Avast + Kerio) but nothing helps. There’s nothing in the event log either.

Anyone had this happen before? Or otherwise, does anyone know where a complete install package can be found? (i.e. one which doesn’t rely on downloading 90% of the stuff to install it, which is what I assume it’s trying to do)

You have asp.net 2 installed right?

In fact VS2005 professional edition. And vs2003 as well, I need both.

I just wanted to see what VWD was, and if any of my more savvy clients could make use of it. :slight_smile:

Also I’m developing a CMS and also wanted to see if VWD could easily be used by clients/3rd parties to develop plugins for it, and what resources they’d need. It would be useful to get it up and running.

I found a link to the ISO file (400mb!) so I’ll try downloading that.

Yes I have the ISO from MSDN as well, it came in some months back(maybe 6). Glad you found it :slight_smile:
