I have no doubt that you are trying to deal with all of these issue’s on a daily basis and I wasn’t trying to imply that it is unsafe or risky to host a Domain on your system.
I am however currently dealing with a client who has had his outbound emails blocked by Comcast as well as some other prominent ISP’s for the last month or two, thus the need for this thread. He has also been experiencing an abundance of spam each day as I too have to deal with. I personally receive around 60-90 per day and I have the spam filtering set at the highest possible setting. This has been going on for months now.
In my case however, I just simply delete them. My clients on the other hand just complain to me each and every day and ask me for a solution that will stick. Unfortunately, I have no answers for them since I have no control over that aspect of hosting.
So, when I said I was worried about setting up new clients, I was referring to spam and blacklists. I just lost a client for that very thing last week.
With that said however, outside of those issues I have been very satisfied with JodoHost. You have an excellent uptime track record and very good technical support. In fact, other than the issues we are talking about, I really haven?t had any other problems with your company. I just wish we could get these two things resolved and everything would then be perfect!
Sorry, but I’m with JodoHost from set.30.2006 and last last month the mail IP was blacklisted !!
I contact support (by chat and ticket) and I get an answer that was a little bug and all has been correct so this will never will happend in the future… of course I know that this is not true.
Why cant each one have our own IP and if you want we can pre-pay 50 dolar, if one of our accounts send spam JodoHost receive that money.
As “Cap’n Code” my client receive spam, but I can explain to my clients that the spammer use new tricks and that will take some time to correct. They will understand that, but they dont understand that their mails cant go out !!!
Thats what we say, so many client and having big problems make by a very, very small client.
Maybe you got the answer or we can all found the answer, but having the mail server balcklisted some hours (in my case 20 hours) it not an option.
Maybe another optios is leaving the “old and good” clients together and not mix the new and old clients.
I supose (maybe I’m not correct), that spammers buy an account and send spam inmediantly, I dont think that they buy an account, stay for one year and then send the spam.
Stephen – this would imply we are now in the unlisted state. I tested shortly after you posted this, then again about 5 minutes ago. Both times I get the evil bounce back…
Hi. This is the qmail-send program at @.
I’m afraid I wasn’t able to deliver your message to the following addresses.
This is a permanent error; I’ve given up. Sorry it didn’t work out.
<[email protected]>:
Connected to 204.127.198.26 but sender was rejected.
Remote host said: 550 64.187.103.252 blocked by ldap:ou=rblmx,dc=comcast,dc=net → BL004 Blocked for spam. Please see Discovery Hub - News & Technology
— Enclosed are the original headers of the message.
At this moment nothing can be done, but if JodoHost doesnt correct something… this will happend again and again and again
Maybe JH doesnt understand that this is an urgent problem to resolve now. Spammer changes and we must re-arrange all to disable the posibility that our mail is rejected
It will be good that JH staff give us their option’s or comment in what are they working ?
discota, I’ve said what we are working on so many times on this forum I’ll say so again.
We are working on a commercial filtering service from MailWise that we plan to offer to customers at no charge
I am working with open source developers to implement a global cluster spam gateway (customised to our needs) to filter all email.
Each customer cannot have their own IP. There is no way we can implement. I don’t think any shared host can do this, only on a VPS environment is this possible
Discoteca,
Buenos Dias. (I lived in Colombia for a year, I understand language difficulties, trust me :)).
The problem comes from SPAM that comes through JODO, not that is originated at JODO. Mail that is auto-forwarded is what gets us – when spam is autoforwarded to Comcast clients, Comcast thinks we are spamming them.
Personally, I would rather give up my ability to forward for 3 weeks, while JH gets mailwise set up to prevent spam forwards from passing through.
Maybe Jodo could look at all the clients using Mail5, determine which ones have forwards going to Comcast (or ATT.net, same thing). Then ask those clients if they would be willing to turn off their forwards for a few weeks??? Just a thought…
Tinruns, my congratulations for the number one of Colombia “Shakira”.
Ok, I always think that the problem was with the outgoing mail, but right now I understand the forward problem.
I have 2 ideas:
Option 1
Have an IP for mail account without forward and another IP for mail account with forward
Option 2
Let us config a default mail server with forward disable (and never blacklisted) or use another mail server with forward enabled… but can be blacklisted
discoteca, there is no way we can either disable forwards globally, or we can configure our mail server to send forwards from a different IP. We’ve worked alot on the forwarding problem…
Right now… our best best is reducing the spam that hits our mail server.. And that’s what I am working on
Today one of my clients started getting blacklist notices from Comcast. This is happened to us before so I was wondering if Comcast is one of the small private blacklists or if they get there’s from somewhere else that you already know about. I went through the IP removal process with Comcast and oddly, they said we weren’t on one, and then mail started flowing fine to them again.
I guess my question is, will your solution help the problem as it relates to Comcast? From the way my client talked to me today, I can’t see them staying with me should it happen again so I am very interested in this issue. They are a travel agency that relies heavily on email so even the smallest hiccup, and we hear about it. Thanks for any update.
Comcast seems to be creating trouble because of constant forwards to it. We are working on a solution to keep the email traffic coming in clean.
We will once again contact comcast to have us removed.
Comcast seems to be troubling us right now. In the meantime, you may want to use a different mail service while we come up with a permanent solution to this issue
the whole issue with comcast is forwarding. when spam hits forwarders, the spam gets forwarded to some email address. If that email address is a comcast email address, comcast thinks we are spamming! and lists us
So we are working to ensure cleaner email hits mail boxes, so cleaner email gets forwarded
That looks like Comcast antispam is detecting more spam than JH antispam.
It’s OK that JH search a better antispam, but this is not a final solution… I thing that in the near future will arrive a “mail versi?n 2” with new standard that make the spam disapear.
DO you know any research about this ?
I understand that at this moment this is maybe the best solution
But as IPv6 is coming in the next year, is there any new generation of mail ?
I supose that some internet laboratory should be working with the big problem that is spam.
That’s 'cause it’s still top secret - its the new system that spammers use to communicate in order to stratigize… and to make sure they don’t spam themselves.
