need a GPP distribution to setup my VPS

i am trying to get a LAMP configuration going on my VPS (Linux/Apache/Mysql/Php) so that I can do a few things not possible on an ordinary linux.

I’ve already downloaded the *.tar.gz files for apache,mysql, and php. however, gpp isn’t preinstalled on the servers. this, of course, is required to compile all of these packages. i need to know where to download the appropriate (COMPILED) gpp compilers.

Any recommendations guys?

Does the xhost feature work on these vps’s?

I would like to remote the desktop to do some things.

Wasnt exactly sure how that would work (like syntax)
