I have been chatting to Ginney on live chat regarding Newservers but thought I would post as well just to be sure.
We have a customer that requires 4 dedicated servers to provide video streaming to a customer of thier monthly meetings. They have the software required to do the streaming.
Ideally they want 2 servers in the US and 2 in the EU/UK as they have office on both sides of the pond. Thier requirement is for 300 users live streaming 150kbps (43Mb/s) once a month for the meeting, and around 100 users live streaming a couple of times a week (14Mb/s) There will also be a store of the meeting videos that will allow people to view again.
They have calculated thier requirement as 1000Gb per month for bandwidth and 80Gb storage (which fits perfectly into the Video server).
Questions:
If we were to resell these servers, can it be made to look like they are our servers rather than newservers??
If we were to use our anon support system for support, would these tickets end up in the correct place for newserver support?
What is the remote console options for the video server? KVM access or Microsoft RDP?
For both access options, are they secure? Can they be locked down to IP address access?
What is the bandwidth of the link to the Dedicated servers?
Are they plans to provide Uk based newservers along with the localised plans for hosting?
Will they be able to view all the configuration through our existing control panel?
I’ll probably keep adding to this list, but that’s enough for starters.
I have only (luckily) sent one customer their way so far.
So far in my experience, jodo support = fantastic.
newservers support = laughable.
I am still clueless as to who owns/runs/supports newservers.
My advice is deal directly with jodo.
PS. I hate to make posts like this, but after repeated attempts to try to get support, my client thinks I have stitched them up. (If it wasn’t for Stephen’s help I would have gone mad by now).
The chat I had with live support yesterday basically said we will pay $194 a month per server - we can sell it on at whatever we want. I just need to be sure that it is still anonymous. Hopefully someone will respond soon - It’s potentially $800 a month for Jodo
As in understand it, Jodo run newservers - the billing and technical support - or least I am hoping this so I can bill through the control panel and run support through the anon helpdesk?
NewServers is in its infant stages. We are working to revamp the support team and I fully agree the support is not of a great standard. NewServers is assembling a new support team. The jodo support team has their hands full and they won’t be taking care of this.
We were a part of the NewServers ownership, but have decided to take a backseat in this venture last month (we have our hands full with jodohost). The company is owned by Scott Mueller of AccelerateBiz. He is a very close business partner of JodoHost and infact both of our companies share alot of things including staffing resources as well as huge new cages and bandwidth in the NAP of Americas. We have been associated with him for over 2 years now. We continue to provide background support to newServers and we are still currently handling sales & billing. The plan is NewServers will develop into an indepedent company and we will have some revenue sharing model with this company. Hence our interests in NewServers remain firm and we are 100% committed behind it
To put things short, we do not own the company anymore but are closely associated with it and do have financial interests in it. We are working with AccelerateBiz to ensure it is successful and the teething problems are resolved. If you have any problem with NewServers support, you can also submit a ticket to us via the jodohost helpdesk with your server details.
Greg, can you please email sales and they’ll prepare you with a quote. Scott will be coming in an answering these questions anyway, a little later today. He has no power as the rest of Miami and the condition down there is quite bad
No phone networks.. no power for at least 3 weeks..
Hi everyone, apologies for the lack of service with newservers.com. This is new, but we will have support and service rivaling any of our competitors. That is my promise.
Please feel free to email me with any questions you wish to [email protected]

Yash,
How about my questions?
Thanks

Hi Gregg,
Absolutely you can resell these servers. With such a good deal on these servers, makes great sense to resell them.
Support can be done by us, but anybody submitting support tickets might very easily recognize it’s newservers.com
Microsoft RDP, although kvm over ip access can be made available for short time periods
yes, both microsoft rdp and kvm over ip access can be secure and we can set our firewall to only allow certain IPs of yours access.
10mbps. 100mbps is an extra $10 and 1gbps is an extra $30
There are currently no plans to offer servers physically located in the UK
Our localised hosting project is quite different. We plan to offer shared services from the mentioned destinations. Neither JodoHost nor NewServers has plans to offer dedicated servers from any of those destinations, at least for now

That’s a shame as I think that may be the biggest downfall. There need is localised hosting to reduce latency/hops etc for the video streaming. I’ll have to see what they think about having 4 in Miami.
