I’m usually a silent member, I love jodohost and their services. You guys are the best hosting company in my opinion. However (you knew that was coming didn’t you) the lack of native SQL2005 support has really got me in a bind. I know you have it, but I don’t want to pay extra for it, and I don’t want the hassle of a client having to request everytime they want a new db. The thing I don’t get is that hsphere 2.5 has been out for a long time now, so long that 3.0 is out. I know 3.0 is just a relabeling of 2.5, and I know that hsphere told you themselves not to upgrade to 2.5(3.0) because of problems, but I think this dance has gone on a little too long now. Maybe the “hosting industry” works a little different than other sectors, but why aren’t you guys being a “heavy” on psoft? I guess jodo is so ingrained with hsphere that it would be impossible to switch to a different hosting software, and psoft probably knows that.

we aren’t heavy on psoft.. and we are very closely looking at our options to chase new features faster..

Yea, I got clients wanting SQL2005. I don’t know why Psoft can’t get on the ball. I love H-sphere tho.

Are you guys really thinking about switching to something else? If so what do you have in mind, and can we still use H-Sphere if choose?

switching to another CP means migrating 20,000 end-users.. plus HSphere has no competitor..

SQL2005 is supported now.. but we will have to perform a dangerous upgrade to get there. We have a tough two weeks ahead of us here at JodoHost, but we will begin planning and testing for an upgrade after that. We may also go ahead and start a second cluster on the new hsphere version

We have a good relationship with SWSoft. Stephen has met their CTO and top management team. We are even considering offering parallel windows plans on plesk

Hsphere 3.0 (or the 2.5) requires such drastic changes in the windows authentication if we upgraded we would literally be facing sites down for 12+ hours and that is being optimistic. This is not something I am ready to do at this point. We have gone the extra step of doing sub FTP and ASP.NET which while great for clients, is actually one of the major issues in us upgrading.

I don’t understand why Psoft can’t get it together. We are going to have to do this upgrade at some point. We are getting really behind with PHP5, SQL2005 etc. THey need to get on the ball.

How are these other H-SPhere providers doing these upgrades?

How long as php5 been out and we are still on PHP4? This is ridicious. SOme of my programming clients are starting to complain, espically my windows clients.

PHP5 still has issues with the latest version, like webmail and email dont work :frowning:
