one day with jodohost

Hello,

I don’t want to complain but working with jodo is becoming a nightmare for me. Here is my experience from today:
1- client calls me and complain he can’t add a new subdomain - internal error tech support was notified - we have seen this error many times and 'solved" many times
2 - another client calls me and he can’t see his mssql databases - I use several other windows hosts and there is no such problem there - I know Stephen did this for security purposes but this was a bad decision - all developers are suffering because a man or two will ask why they can see all databases.
3 - my other client’s site was hacked - asp site - sql injection - this is not jodo’s fault, but when I try to open a support ticket - several hours later I see that helpdesk is not working - because - license issue - AGAIN. We was told that cerberus will be changed with other system but nothing happened, just like localised hosting and ms exchange hosting -we got promoses only.
4 - several of my client’s sites are down for n-tieth time, I wrote about this here http://support.jodohost.com/showthread.php?t=12419
5 - I try to solve some other problems - but no luck CP is extremely slow even after so called maintenance
6 - I go on live chat, the operator triyed to solve the problem and finaly told me to open a ticket - but the ticket system still not working
The final result - I lost many hours today and almost nothing from the above problems was solved. Nodoby on live chat - not surpising - I guess other people here many problems too.
I am on a platinum plan -it is difficult to move and I hope we will see some iprovements here - but acctualy I don’t believe it.

VAPEZILLA VAPORIZERS

  1. This issue has to be researched, as internal error can mean literally anything.
  2. It wasn’t a few people, and it is a security issue.
  3. Helpdesk is a bad situation, we basically have to do away with anonymous support if we change, we have tried to stick it out but this cerberus company sucks, very rude with ever getting license updates from them and they don’t tell us when they expire.
  4. as i told you ask for them to be in own pool.
  5. CP isn’t slow I have used it quite a bit, expand on where it is ‘slow’ if you think it is slow.
  6. we are answering emails to the ticket system manually so that means is valid.

Too bad. I have nothing but good experience with Jodohost. Of course, I don’t use Windows.

But really, I host about 20 clients and I rarely get a call from any of them.

there are issues sometimes, but we try to be very pro-active, especially on the windows side, you see many more windows posts on the status forums simply because I started a trend of posting even when pages were slow loading and my team has continued in that direction.

We try to provide as much info as possible in every case, we had many issues with win21 recently, I gave as much info as possible(in fact everything except admin logins basically)

Sometimes there can be a single pool with an issue or a domain with an issue unrelated to the server at all.
ivanrk submits quite a few tickets, and overall I am sure if he looks back he will see it is not that bad, just a few issues he had longer reply times on  I know as I have personally answered quite a few of such tickets.

Hsphere CP has slow times, but it is not unusably slow, and if clients are complaining so much I almost wonder what exactly are they doing in CP so much? The CP should really not have to be used that much such that you are ‘testing’ it daily, you add domains, remove domains, add emails, remove emails change redirects, and make a few parameter changes. it isns’t the website nor server, and it has no bearing upon such so why even if it is ‘slow’ during a few hours of the night (early morning US EDT time) it does not affect general productivity or performance of servers.

Also we tried exchange services with hsphere, bluntly, it sucked. It was HORRIBLE and had a level of integration about ZERO with hpshere, it was not worth having for resellers and it revealed our domain to clients. Why continue something no one wants? We have literally 4 clients on 3 servers, offering this service for the last year has cost of loads of money that could have gone elsewhere.
Localized hosting, we tried and it didn’t workout like we wanted the ideas for hpshere having different levels of traffic by region could not be performed this way, that idea could be renewed at some point outside of hpshere. Putting a whole cluster in another country was not a viable option as it would have meant multiple extra servers, and more importantly multiple extra accounts for resellers, needing multiple domains to do each country etc, very messy.
Hspehre has held us back quite a bit, but we will be proceeding forth with an extensive plan for SaaS, VPS and premium VDS(similar to vps but different in some ways), and some other hosting options outside hsphere in the future.

I’ve been with Jodo for almost a yr now and they are the best host and support I have ever had (I’ve been with iPower/iPage and 1&1–both sucked with support/severs). Stephen/Manish/Pratik/Akshay have saved my butt many times and gone out of the normal support means to help me out with my windows vps.

I’m guessing you are on a reseller plan with hSphere but SwSoft/Plesk is no walk in the park either. I’ve learned over the past 5 yrs you just gotta have patience.

btw the internal error on adding domains is fixed, stupid hsphere gave someone a dedicated ip that was the main IP of win27 making the domain checking scripts to stop working..

Actualy I had said it many times - 99% of my problems with Jodohost are due to Hsphere’s bugs /or cerberus’s/- and its combination with reselling almost only windows hosting and working in a different time zone. At this moment CP is working perfectly - but my clients are sleeping right now and they don’t call me now. I don’t say that Stephen, Tanmaya, Manish and others are bad support - on the contrary I think the combination of Stephen , windows server and a good windows CP /maybe dotnetpanel or helm/ and my end user support will make a perfect windows host. I even was researching the possibility jodo to manage local server in my country.
But when you are in a hurry, open a support ticket and lost several hours just to find out that cerberus is not working - this drives you crazy. Right now I have 3 open tickets from 3 PM today /after chatting 2 times on live chat I also sent mail to [email protected]/- they are not answered - I don’t know if somebody is working on the problems or the support system not working - every thing seems ok with cerberus from my end but who knows?
BTW I still can’t add subdomains on win27 - I really thing hsphere was made by idiots or they don’t even test their creation before production /on a windows we don’t even have Default.aspx as default index page and it is asp.net 1.1 by default/.

Target Gift Cards

I have to totally agree with your statement that hSphere sucks. The reason is it’s an SwSoft/Parallels company.

This is off topic but I had their program for macs to load windows and it totally screwed up my mac. Once I found out Parallels owned SwSOFT I understood by the program sucks, good $90+ down the drain.

we haven’t mentioned publicly, but we have DotNetPanel installed and in testing (really we do 64.187.104.2:9001

I had someone stopped testing it due to load on me in bring new servers online this lat two months but with seeing how Parallels is going down the drain (honestly we’d never have grown this big with them and Virtuozzo if we’d know this would happen whent hey rename) we are seeing more and more problems.

Their billing is totally inept, to put it mildly, we lost our sales rep and it took a week for them to assign us a new one, and the never INFORMED us of the previous one leaving. We had to find out after waiting 4+ days for a licenses, insane.

If Jodo was to phase out Parallels how would that work with the VPS’s? Would we just use another control panel or would the VPS have to stay with Parallels for the virtualization part? The IT department at the college I worked for is testing VMWare for servers and it’s a pretty slick program.

Virtuozzo is technically a very sound and great product.
It allows incredible speed with ZERO penalty in performance, and that is the big reason we stick to it.

We will be introing a HyperV line toward the end of the year, we have it in testing now as well, it is line Xen but built into windows 2008. It is not final release in nature right now however, and MS is allowing clients to sell it but it is not final quality ready and they are making a number of changes to heartbeat services, migration services, monitoring, and some other levels.

We won’t be removing existing Virtuozzo, we may not actively seek new revisions of their platform however(ie we are using 3.5.1sp1 now still as 4.0 has some undesirable problems like 2x more in cost that we simply can’t pass along to customers and have same level of interest)

Thanks for all the updates. Look forward to seeing what new things jodo comes out with.
