I am utilizing PayPal’s IPN as well as their auto URL return. The IPN is working great through the Website Payments Standard. However, the Auto URL is not working. I realize that it won’t “automatically” return unless they are a registered paypal user. However, they should be able to click on “Return to Merchant” and it should take it back to either finish the transaction in the window they were just in, or simply return to some payment screen. They stated that there should be something on the HSphere control panel side that uses a non-encrypted button to have it return. I’m a bit confused by how it would be on the control panel side, but I’m hoping that someone here has successfully set up PayPal’s website payments standard and has it all working.
An update from PayPal. One of the variables being sent over via the control panel signup is what is messing with the return URL. Is this by design or is this something that can be changed on a per CP basis?
That sure seems odd. Has anyone else used PayPal website payments standard to collect payments? It could be a bit disorienting to a customer to have a new window pop-up, and then when they click on return to merchant it just says “payment is being processed” or whatever. and the original ordering window is just sitting there.
Under your profile under Selling Preferences go to Website Payment Preferences theres a On/OFF for auto return. On the same page you can also add a URL to where you want people go to after payment. I believe one of these options is what your trying to do.
Can someone from JodoHost please comment on this thread. Without something that is useful to customers signing up, they won’t know what to do after they have done their signup. As it stands right now, they have 2 windows open: 1 CP link of mine that shows how much they will be billed, and 1 PayPal or the CP link in the above message that says something like “transaction has been processed”.
What I would like to ultimately see, is that after paying through PayPal, they are redirected to a site that has basic information: Thank you for signing up with Business Name. Your account is being processed. We will be in contact with you in 1 business day. In the mean time, please feel free to visit our website at http://www.domain.com or email us at [email protected].
If this could all be done in 1 window, instead of the control panel launching a brand new window to PayPal, that would be good too.
