I’ve been seeing a disturbing trend with a PHP app I’m running. It lives on Web6 (a Linux box) and it’s constantly (and consistently) getting problems. In most cases it is easilly and quicly solved by the support staff, however it still amazes me how many problems I’ve seen come up.
Has anyone else seen this as a problem? I’ve got sites on other server as well and have NEVER seen the glut of issues I’m seeing here. IMO this is either a hardware issue or an abusive client; the JH staff are really good at what they do!

Hopefully you guys start pushing the issue - I’m sitting here right now watching 5 – FIVE – users try to access my site that runs there and they are getting killed with Database Connection issues.
I’ve already tried everything I know to do to reduce the number of errors but every time I try to give an exam the number of simultaneous users goes down. At first 25 then 20 then 15 now 5.
Am I expecting too much of a shared Linux box to think that 20 people should be able to hit the same site connecting to the same database and not see errors? Note that this is no “self-grown” application, the app I’m running is in use by over 120,000 different educational institutions worldwide!
No where on their forums could I find anything about this kind of an issue beyond the connection cacheing, changing to IP address vs server name and making some changes in the .htaccess file.
My next moves are more drastic - move from MySQL to PostGreSQL and if that does not show a massive improvement, investigate setting up a Linux VPS for the site to give myself complete control.
