Remote connection to MSSQL

Hi all, some questions about remote connection to mssql servers

1- can i fully connect with TCP/IP, i disabled ‘Client for Microsoft network’ and ‘file and print sharing’
2- if i have EM installed on a w2000 server can i connect from a W2003Server with EM (i have version 8 and SP3a installed)
3- does the workgroup name need to be the same on both servers ?

if i have answers to that question maybe i can post another one cos i have troubles connectind remotly to my mssql server

Thanks for any help

1 - Yes

2 - In EM just create a new instance and enter MSSQL2.JODOSHARED.COM or the sql server ip address and enter your sql username and password and it works just like the local server.

It is very slow to show the databases so just wait, it will apear.

3 - The workgroup does not have any influence.

This is even more true with MSSQL1, which has reached Jodohost’s limit for databases.

I had to change the server name in my DNS server also when i used the IP address directly instead of the server name it worked

Thanks for your help

make sure you are upgraded to sp3, it is still slow loading, but a bit faster.
