I have been building a website and the last changes I made were on 1/8. When I went to work on it today, it appears that all work that I’ve done since 12/20 has been deleted from the site.
How would I be able to find out if and why a restore was done on any of your servers? This site was not a live site and I had all of the work on my local hard drive. However, if this was done on multiple servers, I need to know if there are other sites that I need to check for missing work.
Is it often that servers need to be restored from old backups?
Should not be anything like this but web5 and web7 did have a migration due to RAID issues in the last days (posted in status section) we copied the latest backups from the backup server to prevent IO on web5/7 whe they were live, and their last backups were within 12 hours. Maybe if one of them on web5 or 7 there was an issue and it fell back to the older version of the backup, but I don’t think that should have happened.
Thats the only thing there has been anything like this done lately, and we actually did a final update from the live servers as the last step as well. (so even if backup from backup server did come with old it should have updated)
I must have done most of my work in that 12 hours that were not backup up. The site definitely was restored to an earlier version. I’m the only one here that does any changes on the site.
We still had the other copies as well as the site just moved servers. one of these was on web5 or 7 then?
