I decided to mount this RAID drive mirror off on a w2k8 machine to run scandisk on it, it is using over 7GB RAM right now! 8o
Now 11.5GB and maxing out available RAM.
Original hardware has moved to stage 3 of 3.
It could be related to the well-know Windows 7 chkdsk /r memory leak issue. I found an effective workaround in a small program called Minimem. It allows you to limit memory usage for a given selected process. By running chkdsk /r in a command prompt, you can select it directly from the running processes in the Minimem GUI. Uncheck the “Do not optimize” options to ensure it will run correctly. Note, however that chkdsk will take a bit longer, but your machine will be able to otherwise function normally during the process.
