site down for 4+ hours

I have a site down from 4+ hour . DMZ-49668-663
There is a problem with asp.net on win1 cluster2.

Regards,
Gabriel

still no response on chat + ticket.

This is not a server issue, it is a config issue, DotNetnuke going into a looping redirect is not that uncommon when problems occur on it.

Your SQL connection strings were missing ;'s and one had server=sever=mssqlX.yourserver.com

I fixed these and the loops are gone, now it is just down to an error like the upgrade/install of DNN failed, which may have happened due to strings not fully correct.

Thank you Stephen.

The site was installed on 7/13/2011 with mssql4.mydomain.com on connection string.
Yesterday, first the site stops to record new data in database ( a forum module) . After that i get the present error and i have opened the ticket.
After that i get 500 errors ( even for file like .txt ) and then 302 and I write here about an asp.net server issue .

Gabriel

You got those even on html or txt due to wildcard processing, so all the hits were going via the asp.net filter we removed it to see the real issue

Yes, thank you. I try now to move the website to another server .

If the config or DB are messed up, it will continue to loop, you’d be best to either re-install or at least re-attempt the module update that you had done before.

The site contain now data uploaded and registered by the users, so the re-install is not an option, because i will lose the data.

How to “re-attempt the module update that you had done before” when i can’t access the site? I can only delete some files. You have other suggestion?

No I am not a DNN expert on that level, I do however know that this is a rather common issue during installs/upgrades and you may can get some tips from their forums.

In the worst case here ask for a DB backup, and then you can have that data as it is now and can be restored here in the worst case, but that will then give you the freedom to experiment with things as well.

Thank you Stephen,

As i expected, i have uploaded the files on a new account from new server, and the site has started well from the first hit.

On my DNN projects i use only trusted code, so i am kinda confident with my sites, but I will keep attention to the Admin/Event Viewer of this site.

In the following tickets you can find the errors related to subdomain creation, asp.net setup and mssql ( AEH-97498-141, BOZ-29714-340, DMZ-49668-663 ), all related to this site, from past 6 days.

The database is still the same from previous instalation. Can i move it to new account using a ticket?

Regards,
Gabriel

Yes you can.
