Today and last months I see sometimes very low (but stable) downloadspeeds on win22.
For example, I am testing right now: 8-feb-2008, between 20:00 and 21.00 GMT and the maximum download speed I can get is 54kbyte/sec.
I tested on multiple domains on win22 with filesizes above 20MB.
When I download from microsoft, vmware or whatever fast commercial site I get 1500kbyte/sec or more.
Ok, I know that 1500kbyte/sec is quite fast (15Mbit), but I expect at least to get a stable file download of 300kbyte (3Mbit) a second.
Any experiences from other resellers?
Thanks for your input,
Jan-Pieter
edit:
On win26 and web5 throughput is around 300kbyte/sec, so issue seems only related to win22.
we have another ticket on this and I can’t duplicate it, they say only http is slow, they have great speed on ftp but not http
as I said can’t see the same issue in my testind from dsl or mobile broadband.
let me know if ftp is faster for you.
Stephen, I tried also ftp-download: ftp from win22 runs normal at 300kbyte/sec. Download from http is still limited to 50-65kbyte/sec. (It starts a bit faster, but slows down in a few seconds.
I tried from different ISP’s and different physical locations, but the problem with http remains the same. Some limit in IIS ?
I also tried a download of http://www.pauwenburg.nl/JP/testfile.15MB.bin with a shell-script from web5.jodoshared.com This resulted in a download with an average of 6,38MB/sec. At the same time I downloaded from the internet (Europe) and there the limit is still 63,5kB/sec.
This proves (in my opinion) that the problem is not related to win22, but probably to a router or firewall?
this has troubled me ever since we became customers, but i thought it was normal, and not only for Europe. It would be very nice if I could upload and download files faster than ~50kbs as it is now…
