Spam Assassin

Hi,

Im running a VPS gold account. Im trying to train Spam Assassin. How do I see what is being ‘trained’ - Should i be on DSpam?

Ive also set the ‘Hits required for Spam’ to 3 (from 7 ) and has made no difference on the amount of spam received - Ive checked in Components Management in PLesk and Spam Assassin is green.

Thanks
Rich

I don’t have much idea at the moment, on how it works with Plesk.
In general, Spamassassin uses pattern based rules to detect spam/classify messages. However it does allow for bayesian training & filtering. You need to note that it can get CPU intensive as well. You may instead want to update to the latest ruleset using sa-update before enabling Bayes.

Thanks Tanmaya,

How do I go about updating the latest rule set? What is sa-update?

Rich

How to do with Plesk based install is the question here, though normally it should be as straight forward as executing the sa-update file. In any case, I’ve asked the VPS team to look into this. You should get a better answer from them pretty soon.

What is it all about, you can understand here:
