I setup up new vps acct. The ip is not pinging. Time-out is.
Is vps dns zone required before ssh is possible? Will not login thru ssh.
IP number assigned via hsphere during vps setup…time-outs during ping effort…is the issue IP related?
All feedback invited and needed desperately.

The VPS gateway has to be set manually, you will need to submit a ticket and request the gateway be set.
It has been fixed quite before…Ticket was also replied.
yes, IP is now pinging. however, can not log in thru ssh.
I am using secureCRT. SSH will not accept password.
However, with putty, i get the same password error.
are there specific guidelines or username / password restrictions?
Utilizing ssh2.
userpassword not being accepted. I have set up password in the vps control panel using same password for control panel and root.
all suggestions as to what I may be doing wrong or what is wrong greatly appreciated.

Make sure you are using root as username ( because sometimes clients use their cp user name mistakenly to log in to their vps) .

That was the advise i needed. I was using the user-name instead of root.
