Still Unable to Author Websites!

Over 3 days ago, the server (in this case WIN12) where we host most of our client websites, stopped letting us access those websites with FrontPage.

(NOTE: We are quite aware of the public attitude towards FrontPage. However, we use it for one important reason: because it is simply the best tool we’ve ever found for uploading and making minor changes to websites! It is far better, easier & quicker than using an FTP client. We still design sites in most cases using notepad and various other programs; however, when it comes to uploading or changing site content on the fly, FP’s Live - Real-Time, web-authoring capabilities are second to none! This program has saved us endless hours of configuration in the past and we continue to use it for this purpose only. And, since “most” Windows web hosts still support FP Extensions, this has never been a problem!)

Until now!

I have been in constant contact with Jodo Support for the last (3) days with absolutely no success at fixing this problem. As of right now, we still do not even have the ability to upload files to the server, which I would tend to think is a very common task for any website designer to engage in.

I have been up night and day for the last 2-1/2 days trying desperately to contact Jodo in every possible way, to try and see if someone here can assist me with this problem. Since web design is 98.9% of our business, it is just about impossible to run a business when you cannot develop websites!

I held (3) separate Live Chat sessions since:

(8:47PM CST Saturday - My time)

With Yogesh, DKumar & Manish

I submitted a ticket to support on Monday the 5th:

Ticket ID: ATW-17178-582

We have gone back and forth since then with several emails trying to repair this problem. We have been in communication with: Manish Srivastava, Ranjan & Prakash.

It was still not repaired!

I posted a thread on the Customer-Only Forum Monday at:

(At 6:45AM CST Monday - My time)

I have re-posted to this same location several times since, with only (1) response from Stephen.

It was still not repaired!

I sent my “first” PM message to Stephen at:

(5:25AM CST Monday - My time)

…and continued back and forth with Stephen in Private Messages for the whole day, sending (4) more, with the last one being sent at:

(1:39AM CST Tuesday - My time)

It was still not repaired!

I tried calling the US JodoHost offices last night at approximately 8:30PM CST Monday - My Time.

It was still not repaired!

I finally decided that I’d better get some badly needed sleep before something worse happened! As of today, Tuesday at 9:00AM CST - My Time, I checked the server again only to find out that:

It is still not repaired!!!

I have a client who is fuming right now because he needed me to design and install a Flash Component on his existing website “YESTERDAY”. But it is still not there!!!

I have another client who is expecting to see a “Mock-UP” of his “NEW” website on the web by Tomorrow Morning B!!!

At this rate, it will not be there!!!

We currently have NO WAY to upload files to any websites we have on the web at Jodo!!! We are still having intermittent problems creating folders on these sites as well!!!

What do we have to do to get someone to fix this problem???

I need this repaired NOW! Not tonight! Not tomorrow! Not tomorrow night! NOW!!!

Is there anyone at JodoHost who knows what they are doing in terms of setting server permissions??? If there is, can you please step forward!!!

I have had it!!! I am sick & tired of having to wait (3) solid days to get permission to update my own websites!!! Why am I paying for access to a server that doesn’t allow me access??? Why am I paying for the use of FP Extensions!

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME GET THIS RESOLVED, ONCE AND FOR ALL???X(

THANK YOU!

I just talked with Stephen, he’s looking into this issue.
I’m sure if this was a straightforward problem, we would have resolved it by now. he will update you shortly

Thank you Yash!

I do appreciate your response. I will be waiting to hear from Stephen.

Thanks again.

Please let us work on this, and let me tell you NOTHING has changed on win12 with FP since the patches made back here:

http://support.jodohost.com/network-outages-updates/9036-win12-reboot-12-30am-sunday-dec-10-a.html?highlight=win12

You are in contact with me I AM WORKING on it, and you have other topics that I have also updated.
This is not a Win12 issue, this can happen on any server, it is simply the way FP interacts with Hsphere, and some task that FP is doing it making it override hsphere set and windows ACL set permissions when you are making the folders.

I have spent over 4 hours on this issue, you are not ignored, I can only replicate the folder, inside of folder issue, I am able to open and edit other pages.

Stephen tells me he has been working on this for 4+ hours now, He’ll get back to you.

Thank you for your explanation Stephen. I think that I made it very clear by posting all of the different times I contacted Jodo, that you were attempting to assist us with this problem.

I never said that WIN12 had a problem (in itself), but that FP was not working correctly on it.

I know and acknowledge that you and some of the others I have worked with corrected parts of the problem at various times, but unfortunately, they resurfaced again moments later.

Please understand my position. We have been with Jodo now for one year and four months, and during that time (if you look up my posts here), you will see that we seldom have any complaints about your service. Outside of some Spam issues we had to deal with over the last few months, we have been “extremely happy” with your service and response times with support. I also understand that ?S**T Happens? and sometimes the solution is not very straightforward.

However, I too have a business to run, a production schedule to maintain, clients to satisfy and many other tasks to accomplish each and everyday, and I simply do not have time to constantly try and reach someone hour after hour to resolve one problem.

Let me say however that each & every time I did contact any one of you, EVERYONE was very polite, kind, considerate and as helpful as possible under the circumstances. Especially you Stephen! You have gone out of your way several times for me and I do appreciate that! I am not upset with anyone’s demeanor or with your participation in trying to correct this problem. I am only upset because it has not yet been fixed after over (3) days and several attempts to get it done.

It is very frustrating when on the one hand, I have MY CLIENTS calling and screaming at me because their sites are not being updated (making me feel like we are incompetent), when the problem has nothing to do with us!

I apologize for getting so upset, but I am losing my patience and I am trying to cope with this situation. I just need some good news finally that I can hang my hat on.

I hope you understand.

Thanks.

Sorry Stephen,

I just saw this post that you placed there before I posted here. My apologies! I was unaware that you posted this.

http://support.jodohost.com/customer-only-discussion/9454-problem-new-frontpage-patch-win12.html#post51038

I am able to do most common commands, only I can not make folders inside of folders now, and I know that is what you are wanting to do, I am working on it, but some big bug is happening here. Other than that everything I tried is working properly. I am working on the folders STILL. ANd the domains you gave me, not all are on win12, so that really confirms it is not just win12 that won’t allow nested folders.

Hello all,

I owe a great deal of gratitude and a very large apology to JodoHost, their entire Staff and especially Stephen, for all of their hard work and dedication towards this issue that was unfortunately plaguing us all!

Yesterday, as you can see from the start of this thread, I was very angry and confused as to why this problem had not yet been resolved. After all, we were on the third day of not being able to work on any of our client websites and no one seemed to have a solution to this problem! I must tell you that I was seriously ?losing it? since I believed at the time that the problem originated with a patch that was applied to the server. In fact, that is where it originated, but it wasn?t actually the ?cause? of the problem.

All day yesterday we were all working tirelessly around the clock trying desperately to find a solution to this problem! By around 1:00AM CST (my time), Stephen and I were at a loss and just didn?t know what to do next.

I finally started to realize that if all of the professional Support Staff at JodoHost weren?t able to find the answer to the problem on their end, then just maybe it was on my end! With that in mind, I started to comb through different websites I found on Google searching for someone with a similar problem. Almost immediately, I stumbled across an old forum entry that held a link to Microsoft Support, referring to an article that traced back to April of 2002! Yes, it was a long shot, but definitely worth a try!

A few minutes later, after following the suggestion on the MS site, and with additional help from Stephen, we were finally able to cure this problem! Needless to say, we were both very happy to finally be rid of it!

Now, let me tell you how I felt after this was over. On the one hand, as I said, I was elated! On the other, I felt very badly for my behavior over the past three days. I admit that I acted inappropriately regarding this issue. I became very impatient and lost my temper, because I believed at the time that it was all Jodo?s fault and that they were not moving fast enough to resolve it for me.

I ask all of you here and the Staff at JodoHost to forgive my outburst yesterday and accept my apologies for my actions. Next time something seems to not be functioning properly, I will try to contain my emotions and be a little more patient until a solution is found!

From my experience here with JodoHost, especially in the last few days, I have realized that everyone here is dedicated to the success of all of their customers and they work tirelessly to try and make your experience more enjoyable and productive! These guys are great!

Thanks again Stephen for all of your hard work!

Thanks, and get me a list of those other domains so we can look into them too

Will do Stephen! Please give me a little while to turn-off all of my permissions. I’ll PM you when I am ready.

Thanks again Stephen!

Just so you know Stephen, “as of right now - all of my sites and my client sites are down to (everyone on the web) right now until they are all reset!”

Yash,

Do you know where Stephen is? All of our sites are still down, since 2:46PM CST! Please help!

Thanks!

Ah I just was not on the forum, I was working on a load of new servers we had come in today. I am setting now.

Stephen! Ya scared me!!! 8o

My site is back up now! Thanks!

Still waiting for the others…

Wheeeeeeew! Glad you’re back!

All are up now.

I did not fall out the window or anything, time just flew working on servers, making flight reservations(forgot I did that, time flies on the phone).

No problem Stephen… I’m just glad you’re back now!

Thank you so much for bringing everything back! I just checked them and I can now call everyone with the news!

Don’t know if you read my first PM from before, but… unfortunately, we may still have a problem with permissions. I’ll let you know later after I test it again.

Thanks again!

Yes I read all your PMs in a flurry when I saw so many in my inbox
