Traffic Stats in HSphere

There is a big discrepency in Traffic usage between Hsphere and AWStats. The former says I’m already up to 1 GB while AWStats is indicating under 400 MB. What would be the cause for such a huge discrepency? My other domains have very little traffic as they have nothing for general public use.

hsphere counts mail, database (sql), traffic, and all bundled together.

I have almosts zero mail traffic showing. There’s nothing to indicate SQL generated traffic seperately, so I assume that is just counted as HTTP traffic. The other thing I just noticed was that the period started May 28. I thought it reset on the 1st of the month like AWStats does. So there’s actually 4 more days of traffic than I thought.

Thanks for the clarification.

FTP traffic is counted as well

Anyway, I’m checking this out. PSOFT has a different mechanism of counting traffic in HSphere 2.4. Did your traffic usage suddently spurt after the upgrade or has this been consistently reported?

My FTP traffic is reported as 20 MB so far. I can’t honestly say that I’ve been keeping close track of the traffic, except towards the end of the month just for interest’s sake as I don’t have a heavily visited site. It just struck me as a large amount of traffic for what I thought was 4 days. The only thing I have reference to is a few screenshots I took when I had some billing issues.

Here are the counts at different points:
March 11 - 1.4 GB
April 24 - 2.4 GB
May 18 - 1.4 GB
June 4 - 1.0 GB

Doesn’t seem to be a clear indication, although yesterday’s total seems large compared to 2 weeks later in the month for May. The April total is 3 days short of the cutoff period, so is a bit low as well in relation to the first 8 days of the current period.

I suppose it’s worth checking out if it’s not a lot of trouble, just in case there is a problem. Then it can be addressed before a lot of complaints come in towards the end of everyone’s billing period.

EDIT: I just checked my control panel again. In the last 12 hours it has gone up by 200 MB. I don’t know if that is due to my AWStats archive file being zipped last night, or what. But that is definitely a LOT of traffic for what was overnight hours locally when there should have been almost no traffic. I will start tracking it a lot closer to see what’s going on.
