why not use vBulletin. Surely if you are paying for SQL Server 2000 you can pay for vBulletin 
i would have loved to convert, but there is no conversion tool available. Only way we could do it is convert Burning Board to phpBB and then phpBB to vBulletin. Thats a little bit risky. And the conversion tool for Burning Bouard to phpBB is for the free version of burning board. Not the paid version that we use.
Hopefully there would be a direct conversion tool available in a couple of months

vBulletin has a lot more feature than Burning Board. As this forum grows, vBulletin’s advanced search feature and pruning capabilities would make it ideal. Burning Board is limited in these two areas. Therefore we are switching to it
