Could someone explain briefly the main difference between the above. Would it be worthwhile upgrading my Platinum account to a VPS server in order to increase reliability?

You have Windows account with us. VPS is a Linux server. VPS allows for root access. It is generally good for running applications. You may write your requirement to [email protected] for various alternatives.
