web mail time outs

I dont understand.
When we goto the webmail server, we dont actually get chance to log in or select which mail server were on etc. So at this stage, how is any selection to which mail server were on, made? And so how would it be having trouble with certain mail servers? It seems like its either all of them, or the webmail server itself. Or is it a link between the webmail and the cpanel DB?

cheers

No, the webmail system is located on one standalone server.
When you use webmail, it connects to your mail server to retrieve your mail.

What we believe is happening is that the # of available connections is getting maxed out at certain points in the day resulting in a time-out, when its connecting to certain mail servers.

We are implementing dspam globally over the next 7 days, and that should free up a substantial # of connections and reduce load, that should totally resolve this issue. In the meantime, we are working on short term solutions

Thats what I thought. But the problem we have, is that we dont actually get to the point of fetching the mail. the actual webmail doesnt load. the server 500 error.

but if you say the DSPAM implementation will solve this, then I take ur word for it.
cheers

Getting more today. :frowning:

yes, we are looking in to this.

Deepak corrected the issue. webmail was receiving more than 400 concurrent connections.. That should solve the 500 server errors

Just received another at 10:16 EST. 500 error.

yep, more errors. VERY slow once again. This needs sorting. It just keeps happening. A standalone webmail server should be lightning fast.If you try the dwmail ad dwmail site to check your email, its very very quick, so your installation should be equal if not faster!!

Thanks

More at 12:44 pm EST.

Just got a call from a client. Web mail is giving 500 errors. She also can’t connect to mail3 via pop/smtp, getting Connection Refused messages.

She’s been calling off and on about this for over a week. Every time, I’ve checked and all is well. Not this time. Today, I am seeing the same issues.

Tim

same issue here. http 500 errors and dwmail says connection broken to IMAP server.

lots of p*ssed customers. that fact that happens over and over and over is unacceptable. what’s the deal?

We blocked an IP that was creating 200+ connections to webmail. Should be fine as of now.
This happens when webmail gets over 750 simultaneous connections. We are working on a permanent fix

I really hope this gets figured out permenantly soon - webmail is pretty much unusable - up for 5 minutes and then down with server errors. I’ve resorted to using the @mail demo at demo.atmail.com to check my emails.

We are working on a permanent solution today.. We will be monitoring it and performing maintenance to correct it

More 500s just now. :frowning:

More again.

please paste the exact error.

First I got a 500 error. Then this:

There was an error connecting to your mail server. Your server reported: [CLOSED] IMAP connection broken (server response)

Same as before. It just let me back in, and then almost immediately got the error above again.

this is from mail5?
