It happens every night around this time, give an hour more or less. I’e monitored it since this post and it’s every night. Right now it’s been down for well over an hour, and it’s still down, and I know there’s no point complaining to Support as I have no faith in anything being done on a permanent basis.
I’m moving this site off this server as soon as I can, before the client starts to take an interest and I lose their business for good. They mostly don’t complain about problems this time of night, but they will once they catch on.
Losing a client to me is not a matter of a $5 a month nobody-cares hosting account. It’s more about me being able to provide a complete 100%-reliable service for their site, and this isn’t it. If I can’t provide reliable hosting then they take ALL their business elsewhere, and that costs me hundreds of dollars a month forever.
It seems to me more and more that Jodohost servers are overloaded to the extent that if just one customer plays up then we all have to suffer on a daily basis. I’ve used other cheap shared hosts lately that make Jodohost seem extremely sluggish and unresponsive, never mind the lack of facilities like SSH which every other host provides. Seriously, I’m getting fed up with it…
You’re correct, as usual… I saw the site down again and over-reacted.
However, my client called me today to complain their site was showing a completely blank page. Turning on PHP errors showed xcache isn’t working, which was enabled for Joomla. I disabled the cache to restore the site. Will that be installed or is there a different setting recommended on this server for Joomla cache?
ok, honestly here, I need to check.
Things did not go as planned last night and we had to go to plan 2, we really wanted to be up on the new server to get them fully split
That meant we had to bring things online on Apache 1.x because 2.x was giving at one point I saw, EVERYTHING a blank page. We will get this matter corrected and up to apace 2.x and it will have all prior features and more stable. We just ran out of time last night for it, and wanted to get things up ASAP.
