Web15 has been down and out a number of times today and yesterday, for up to 30 minutes at a time. HTTP and FTP. Is this going to go on for long?
There was some abuse going on, which we have isolated and now the server is back to normal.
Just as a FYI, the issue was thought to be fixed, then came back, it turned out to be a cronjob loading a script that was making super high load.
This server is still a major major headache for me. I have a dozen or more alerts a day that it’s not responding to simple http requests, and I’m now actively trying to take sites elsewhere. I get more alerts from this server than the rest of them put together, in fact. Every single day, it’s unresponsive at some point. Usually, half-a-dozen times a day.
Poor show, JH… it’s clearly some client or two totally abusing the resources available on the server, and the fact that this server is not up to shared hosting, but the lack of JH action on it inclines me to just give up the fight. I’m tired of making lame excuse to my clients over it, and frankly I now advise them to get their own hosting somewhere that I can’t be blamed for.
