Since Intel has just brought down the price of quad-core CPU’s, isn’t it better - in the long term - to build servers with those instead of dual-core CPU’s, which are kinda obsolete now?
We are using Quad Core servers, where its needed.
Really, these days the bottleneck for a server really isn’t the CPU (unless its a heavy-use server such as a Mail Server)
Why pay extra for power where it isn’t needed? 
The Dual cores are running nice 
We have win24 on a quad core, and we have some quad core mail servers too
oh one more thing, if it were ever needed moving to quad core on any of our servers now(ones we are installing now), even the AMDs will just be a CPU change away (no amd hasn’t released the quad cores yet, but our new boards are capable, I DON’T think our 940 boards will be capable, but they may release a legacy product because of the life 940 had, they have been known to do that)
Cool.. I saw the new SQL server info and noticed it was dual core, and thought that sql servers probably would use more CPU than other types of servers(?)
Na the disk IO runs out before the cpu on SQL and mail servers.
