So on top of sites being up and down like a yoyo for quite sometime now, I’m now receiving calls from many customers that they can’t access their email.
Is the IP forwarding not working for mail servers?
if so why am I having to have customers use the new IP addresses in their mail setup instead of name resolution
The response I got from live chat in regard to this was nothing short of condescending.
We’re trying to be patient but this is getting beyond frustrating, just 1 issue after another.
So I’d like to repeat the last 2 questions from copiousideas post
2. if due to migration, were these downtimes not foreseen?
3. By when these would Stabilize?
For mail servers, IP forwarding is working, however it got limited on a couple of mail servers due to an anti-abuse/DOS feature where number of connections from a particular IP were checked. This affected connections from the forwarder. We already raised this limit, however even the increased limit was not enough on these mail servers.
For Windows, we have certain server side application pool changes pending, which is a long and manual task at the moment. As soon as they are done, sites will get less affected by other users on same server. Right now they get much free reign on server resources that may affect others.
What we didn’t foresee was so many users would IP address and not the hostname for DB servers where DNS propagation would mean nothing, which caused slowness. Or that they are running their websites externally off our DB servers here.
For Linux, it is resource abuse on couple of servers that I was not able to address during migration.

what about customers sites that haven’t been failing due to the reasons you mentioned which are all of my customers. We’ve been seeing outages on websites for about 2 months now, and now the email issues experienced all day today.
This thread is about migration issues, and I think you are referring to your website on web8. Please don’t mix them, or other users will get wrong idea on information here.
No tanmaya, I’m referring to all of the servers causing issues for me, i’d be over the moon if it was just 1 website/server
Email issues, I’ve been fielding all day and it’s definitely down to dns and some customers needing to use IP instead of name resolution. I guess I’m ust starting to get more than a little frustrated here cos I’m getting alot of calls from unhappy customers and I’m hoping that from here on things will get back to normal quickly server side
Ok. Please create a ticket with all pending issues, or just let me know pending tickets, I’ll try to ensure they are worked on at the earliest possible.
Put in a ticket with few domains still affected and I’ll look into it.
For those using direct IPs, please help them with new IPs. Its easy to lookup for them at status.jodohost.com
Thanks tanmaya
They were all using name resolution but pinging their mail server from here gave me the new IP so wasn’t necessary to look up the status page, issue was some of the customers isp’s name servers were still resolving to old IP’s.
Haven’t had any calls about email for a couple of hours now so hopefully I’ve seen the last of it.
