I’ve got alot of questions about this. I do want to say this project is dead. I personally spent alot of time on it and these were the main reasons:
expensive bw in australia. We just couldn’t get it down the prices we wanted
concerns about remote hands and eyes. We would have to rely on 3rd parties
concerns about maintaining our equipment outside the US, regularly shipping parts, spares, servers internationally (yes, we couldn’t find reasonably priced local suppliers) would be a huge logistical challenge.
overall, for the amount of money and time this project needed, we didn’t even know if we could reliably maintain such a global cluster. And the demand we expected was limited.
However, as we move into 2007, we have some exciting new services we are working on. Media streaming and flash streaming is one such service. We are exploring gridhosting, and will be letting resellers to sell private-labelled winvps. If you have ideas on new services you would like to sell as a reseller or use as a customer, do let us know.
Well alot of us want to sell Dedicated Servers through Jodo. I think this should be on top priority, as it was expected back in August-September. I am currently using another company, but would rather use you guys.
How much longer on reselling winVPS?? I have it on my Website and selling it now, I guess I am doing it the long way if there is a better way. I thought the way I was doing it was already private label as I would set up the client and then order from you…

I am working with SWSOFT to see if we can implement HSPComplete in a manner that allows our resellers to sell both winvps and dedicated servers, under their own brand.
You can do that if you don’t mind filtering all the requests and the setup notices etc to them. Its just that we can’t provide as much support for a winvps server in the ways we can reseller.
Yea thats what I am doing, you guys just have to deal with me instead of my client. I do all the work for my client as far as paying when they pay me, setting up etc. as you would do when you get a order.
Grid Hosting is suppose to provide redundancy at all levels ie your website will continue to function whether there is a software, hardware, network or power problem arises.
I however observed that some major grid hosts had problems in recent past and their customers complaint on various forums a lot.
One problem is that web farms (or grid hosting) are not totally transparent to the developer of the website. There are special requirements for proper session state management for example.
It’s possible the problems you’re referring to are related to that?
Full redundancy would also require linked database servers, which can be a little tricky as well
If you get it working properly, it should be a lot less stressful for both yourself and your customers when the inevitable hardware failure occurs though.
it is something we are researching, and you are exactly right there are some code issues, but what Atul is referring to is more total crashes, major outages(10+ hours at times), etc. Mostly due to filesystem problems from what I have seen.
Have you thought about allowing Resellers to source their own local servers? These would then be supported by the host they are rented from (Hardware/Bandwidth wise), but could be built as part of JH’s cluster
