Much appreciated, and now win23 is having problems since the new switch, but it seems to be a server side issue 8o
Some days are nightmares, this one is just a whole day marathon of nightmares making me sleepless.
This is in the wrong thread but I take it Win11 is doing fine?
Yep it was going fine through the entire night, not too concerned about proper threads to be honest. being relaxed and casual just removing the spammers.
Good news, good news. Thanks for all the updates.
Really this outage was a small subset of servers, being a 48 port switch no not even close to full, we were fortunate that it would be the one to go down really, all the others except our brand new cage are only having 1-3 ports unused.
I left Miami monday morning to come visit my family, when I leave everything happens, major power outage(not affecting us thankfully!) then a switch totally dying.
We are hoping to get the other switch into a debug mode and do a bit of a breakdown to find what happened and how we can work to prevent in the future if possible, but with the serial console also being down we didn’t have time to attempt this with clients down by any means.
I noticed on our graphing that 4 minute before it went totally down there was a significant drop in traffic, then totally off, when we brought the new switch online it was almost a mirror image; which would be expected since ports were being moved one by one, however it should not have gone down in this manner.
My belief here is that the management cpu died and took the vlan analysis with it, when running a large network vlans are essential and required to keep from having major network outages on a regular basis. I will get hands on the switch and see if we can do postmortem before sending it back for replacement.
With all my novice knowledge about all this I am happy we have you and rest of the support team!! You guys are really life savers!! 8)
