Win10 down

Yash,

This SQL script should show you the detail you need:

SELECT LogTypeKey, LogCreateDate, LogServerName
FROM dbo.EventLog
WHERE (LogTypeKey = ‘GENERAL_EXCEPTION’) OR
(LogTypeKey = ‘PAGE_LOAD_EXCEPTION’) AND (LogProperties LIKE ‘%OutOfMemory%’)
ORDER BY LogCreateDate DESC

Sample Data:
PAGE_LOAD_EXCEPTION 23/09/2005 6:28:10 AM ABJH-WIN10
PAGE_LOAD_EXCEPTION 23/09/2005 6:27:05 AM ABJH-WIN10
PAGE_LOAD_EXCEPTION 23/09/2005 6:26:28 AM ABJH-WIN10

The site gsuanders gave us.. we put that in monitoring at it has had no abnormal downtime in at least the last week.

If you have a site, PM me its URL and I’ll have that monitored too. I have hardly seen any site given outofmemory errors on Win10…
[/QUOTE]

FYI: I trust that Yash and crew have turned on monitoring for the site and they are stating trully what they are seeing with their monitoring… As to what abnormal means may vary on the person using it. I would classify the issues I see as more of an intermittent in nature. The thing is when it happens… ususally within less than a minute things are back to normal. This tells me it is very possible that monitoring by simply loading the site may not see the down times… especially if it is intermittant.

There is NO DOUBT in my mind that there is an issue of some sort… the question is what is that issue? Because it is sporatic and intermittant AND doesn’t happen regularly it makes it difficult to determine the problem. It does NOT mean there isn’t a problem, it just means it is hard to track.

Regarding the memory issue… the error from my research does not mean as a whole the system is out of memory… but it represents something different. I believe I had a couple of links earlier that point to just a couple of sites talking about it.

Anyway… I am going to continue monitoring things and as time allows do some more research on the error and see if I can find anything that may help find out why the error is getting thrown. Simply put we shouldn’t be getting an error if everything is running correctly. There is simply no reason to expect the error.

Although the down time is not below the accepted standard, having this sort of intermittent down time is quite unacceptable to our customers… even if it only happens less than 10 times in a day or less than 5 times. The only time I see my sites down no matter where I host is usually due to there being a problem… ususally that problem is less than 10 to 15 minutes and maybe it happens just once a month outside of acceptable maintenance windows… it’s just that when it is intermittent and you never know when it will pop up leaves uncertainty and concern.

Anyway… I am defiinitely going to keep an I out and monitor things and hopefully find something to help pinpoint it before I move more domains on to WIN10.

Thanks for the assistance and monitoring to date.

I have worked on Win10 and made several changes to configuration. Apparently memory recycling was configured inadequately.

Let me know if the error repeats. We haven’t got these errors on the monitoring system at all though

Been away for a wedding. I’ll check and see what’s happened over the last several days.

What did you have to change the memory recylcling to?

Thanks

The error has not been logged on my DotNetNuke or CommunityServer applications over the past couple of days. Before this the System.OutOfMemory error was being logged many times per day.

I will keep monitoring. How did you go gsaunders?

I am seeing some serious resetting issues with an asp portal site on win10. Every few minutes the site will freeze for a minute or so, then it will suddenly come back.

A ticket was raised and we were told the site was mintored for half an hour and no issues were noticed. That’s fine and all, that you guys don’t see any issues. But our customer and myself see these issues all day long.

There must be something obviously wrong with win10.

Wheemer, there have been no issues on win10, and it is not resetting every few minutes at all.

FWIW, I’ve over 20 accounts on win10 (all asp and asp.net), some of which recieve over 2000 hits per day, and I’ve not received any complaints. I don’t use dotnetnuke, as I’m a developer and write all of the code that resides on this server, but I’m willing to bet that it’s an issue with the code, not the server.

I have spent 10 mins monitoring http://jodopulse.com:8080/pubgrp?uid=FE5AE047-30E8-482C-95A9-87D3E093BAED
And I can easily see that win10 has issues…

ASP Check [JodoHost Probe] OK 11706 ms
ASPX Check	[JodoHost Probe] OK 5037 ms

And this is happening constantly… I do not think it is very professional to dismiss customer complaints as easy as all your support staff do. If I can call up that page and spend 10 mins watching the results and I can see the serious problem so easily… What should I think of the responses I’ve gotten from Jodo concerning this issue?
A simple man might think that nothing was investigated AT ALL, and maybe that Jodo is just issuing “nothings wrong” statements at will…

Please take 5 simple minutes and watch Win10 and you will agree that there is something going on. PERIOD

ASP Check [JodoHost Probe] Slow 28124 ms
ASPX Check [JodoHost Probe] Slow 20646 ms

[JodoHost Probe] Error: Read Timeout (#2) 60126 ms

HTTP ADV ASP Check [JodoHost Probe] Slow 53875 ms
HTTP ADV ASPX Check [JodoHost Probe] Error: Read Timeout (#2) 60126 ms

HTTP ADV ASP Check [JodoHost Probe] OK 145 ms
HTTP ADV ASPX Check [Local Probe] OK 353 ms

At the moment, ASP & ASPX are responding in 120ms. That read timeout can happen occasionally, this is a shared server and under our SLA, we can have upto 45 minutes of downtime per server which we do try to avoid however. Trust me, we are alerted right away when the server slows down and this happens very rarely.

If you PM me your website, I can set it up on monitoring. That way we’d be able to pin point where there is a problem and its frequency

HTTP ADV ASP Check [Local Probe] Error: Read Timeout (#2) 60124 ms
HTTP ADV ASPX Check [Local Probe] OK 353 ms

I am going to be monitoring it for the next hour… and I’ve being doing it for twenty minutes now, Ive seen problems with only Win10, all other look fine always nothing like the messages I have seen and posted here

HTTP ADV ASP Check [JodoHost Probe] Error: HTTP/1.1 503 Service Unavailable (#2) 125 ms Downtime=0h 0m

Your last 2 errors are because of an IIS reset I am performing

There has been a total of 3 minutes of outage today on Win10, according to the 24 hour report IPCheck generated. Also the average response time is 300ms according to the same report

Yash, this is very unlike Jodohost. I posted a screen shot of the jodopulse monitoring service…not from any other service. It got removed and without giving any reason. You’ve gotta be fair in accepting it. There is nothing wrong in it. It may be some other site putting up much of load. I’m not saying that its the server going down but ASP and .Net services are going down or slowing down for sure. I’ve already entered a ticket regarding this and i got a reply that everything is fine. How can it be fine when i can see it going down every now and then?

And damn the sites. Above all , I would like to know why my post got deleted?

arya, I accidently deleted your post. Pushed the wrong button. You are free to repost your screenshot. I have never sensored this forum.

You yourself said that only one small website of your’s was having an issue, the rest were fine. If things were slowing down, it HAS to be server-wide, cannot be isolated pocket of websites. Please send me a PM with your site URL and i’ll check it out.

While I admit you are having problems, this is obviously very isolated and it appears more to be to do with coding. Please also PM me your site so i can set it up for monitoring.

Also, some of the slow responses the system reports are due to the network. jodopulse is hosted at a different datacenter and the link between the two is via a global crossing connection. That connection frequently experiences packet loss, infact some aussie clients were complaining of the same.
