Win13 Slow!!!

Hi,

What’s wrong with win13? It’s extremely slow and all domains on it take over a minute to load

There was a site using far too much CPU, we have isolated this site away and win13 is doing much better.

They still seem VERY slow to me :frowning:

win13 is vey fast now, resource usage are normal.
You can open a ticket with your domain name

Hi Folks,

Not sure if this is the same problem Dave is seeing or not on Win 13..but I am finding that there is no problem with straight HTML pages loading..however .asp pages are very slow and often time out. I will send a ticket into support as well.

Thanks!

Yes, we are monitoring the server and hope to track down what’s causing some sudden spikes in CPU..

Hi Folks,

Yash..thanks for looking into this!

Not sure if this helps or not, but I thought I would try and show some examples of what I and others are seeing. I will pass this on to support as well. I will try and do some traceroutes later..but I don’t think that is the cause of the slowdowns.

Here’s a partial screen shot of Firefox loading a page in 36+ seconds.

Here’s an IE7 Screen of totally erroring out:

One users sites caused this, I made an announcement regarding it, as a number of users were effected.

Sites are not even loading…

Sites are all loading here, except the one use account I disabled, it started with gt, so if the user starts with that, expect an email soon dave

Just looked it up, this is not an account of yours, Dave96.

However, I am loading many sites on win13, one of the more busy sites has load times like this:
This page was generated in 0.7188 seconds. Powered by SOOP Portal Raven 1.0

It is for a heavily modified SOOP portal, so those times are pretty good.

No gt Stephen.

It’s basically 2 domains running Joomla.

edit: They seem to load now.

Stephen Thanks!

Things seem quite a bit better..I still am seeing some occasional lags but nothing like earlier.

When these things happen is it a result of sites that are using classic .asp? At some point I am considering going semi-dedicated or dedicated..would doing that circumvent any of these types of situations do you think?

I believe you guys have mentioned before that finding sites causing this can be a little bit difficult..but isn’t there anything in the Microsoft arsenal of software..that may help? I am nor aware of anything myself..just asking?

We have some custom written apps that air a lot, and them some others, only one is MS written, but it can utilize more CPU than IIS and slow the server even more!

We utilize IISTracer from motobit quite a bit, but it is only an assistance, it is not a sure fire tool for finding a site causing problems.

Win13 still seems to be going up and down… I just got timed out again when trying to visit a couple of it’s sites.

Wheemer,

I am testing the soop site you know about, and it is working steady all the time, loading it here and in india, almost each minute.

5 mins after I typed, the server came back to life…

Thanks for checking it. It was another soop site I was working on at the time, but I tried to load the site you are talking about to test and it didn’t load anything either.

Anyways, it’s good again, so thanks!

Wheemer,

I have setup some auto recycles every 6 hours on every pool on the server, the all rotate about 10-15 minutes different han each other, but during this recycle, it frees ram, and also causes pages to need to be 100% re-generated, but I do not know if that was the issue you had or not.

As I said, we are all keeping a very close eye on win13, and if there is anything else we need to do, we will be taking needed actions to resolve the problems.

It is a bit slow again, I am checking it now.

I am installing one more tracking application, and need to restart IIS once to make this tool function.
