WinCF is very slow

The WinCF server is running very slowly. All my sites there are taking forever to load. This has been going on for a long time. I know it’s an older server. But unfortunately, a lot of my long-time clients’ sites are on it. So is my site, plus my service account site.

I saw that some changes for CF servers is coming. That’s great. Will this help the speed? Will there be any easier means to transfer sites off of one server onto another? Only a handful of my sites actually need ColdFusion. So, I could move the rest to a different Windows or Linux server. But, I don’t want to delete and re-create accounts…it would be a nightmare amount of work moving databases, email accounts (with stuffed mailboxes), sites, custom mime types, etc.

Yesterday I was having ISP issues (routing loop) that prevented me from accessing any sites on WinCF even though I could get to other Jodo servers. Perhaps some of the speed is lingering routing troubles. But, really, WinCF has been slow for years.

Yep we will transition all CF sites to new servers that are cloud based, smaller servers smaller amount of sites, less ODBC risk. And wincf hardware/software was changed when it crashed last time, after this experience it one of the major factors in deciding. WinCF2 as well.

Wincf does seems slower than it should be, checking on it.

Should be substantially better now, there was actually something hanging on the IIS side, no CF this time.

Thanks Stephen. WinCF is running a bit better now. I look forward to the cloud changes. Is this perhaps a first-step toward offering true cloud hosting? I’ve been looking at a few offerings along that lines for some of my projects.
