Working to restoring it to a new server, we’ve had several crashes on this old Xeon platform through the years, we’ve maintained it as the best for hotspare and prompt recovery, but at this point we are best served moving to newer hardware and away from the old original p4 era style Xeons.
We’ll be moving to CFMX7 with this as well.
We have the new server physically up and working to get it ready for file restores to be completed.
Manish reminded me (called him in to aid) that we will have some issues in DSN restore between versions, a fact I honestly forgot. however we’ve not had near the problems with CFMX7 as we did with DSNs in CFMX6+ so it will be a long term positive.
We have a lot restored, but still quite a few to go,the accounts with huge amounts of small files really slow things down dramatically so we are actually having to run 2 of them, and 2 of others having lesser files (larger files)larger files move much faster than the tens of thousands of small files.
In the announcement thread, I know you said you’re restoring files as fast as you can. I’m not looking to be bumped up the priority queue because I know lots of folks are probably still DOA. I just need to let off a little anxiety by saying that none of my wincf sites are restored.
Thankfully my clients have been understanding and patient. My own sites are down…so I guess I’m eating my own dog food on this one.

We are restoring on a per account basis, and sadly at the moment S’s are a bit hung in the middle there! We’ve been going from the top and bottom of the alphabet and only a couple S’s restored, I will see if i can’t get a segment of S’s done at least, you have several in there.
This is taking much longer than I had hoped, I knew it was going to be slower as we are restoring from an image at a file level, because of the change in platform we can’t restore at the partition level that is much faster.
Even after all the extra hours I am putting in I am confident it is well worth it to get away from the first generation Xeon platform, it has been trouble with WinCF, way back some MSSQL, and a couple other machines that just randomly died. not to mention they are power eating monsters as well.
I guess I should have called my account AAA_skypanther! 
I will certainly appreciate the new hardware. My older sites, including my own, have been running very slow lately. I’m happy to deal with the outage on the chance they’ll run quicker!

you have some restored action going now 
not completed yet, still going but some domains up none the less.
I have worked with Arijeet to show him the process here, and going to get a little rest, then I have a very long drive tonight, I will as always be available by mobile phone for our staff to reach me and able to get online anywhere.
We are restoring the old PHP path but on your main .com domain, I updated your php.ini to the non version referencing standardized PHP5 path, it will be good to use int he future as it is not version specific.
Thanks to all for your hard work and late night. It’s roughly 12 hours since my last post and I have quite a few domains still not restored. Unfortunately, the list includes my biggest and longest running client. See ticket KZA-58606-580 for the complete list, But of those RenewableEnergyLongIsland.org and LIShines.org (same client) are really important to me to get back up and running.

ETA is impossible to give unfortunately, as the file copy progress is not predictable in any way, this is a much different restore than we’ve ever done before, and I am not sure we will ever do it again, but at this point we do not have any alternative.
Can I post a temporary index / default file with an “Sorry, site is down” message on the sites that are still down? Will that screw up the restoration?

No you can do that, it will be overwritten when files retored, only think i can see that may be a small issue is when restored if one index.htm and one index.cfm and it loads the htm first after this (for example)

I just hope 2 of my clients that have not yet been restored are done soon… the smoothing over of this is going to cost me big time.
There haven’t been any updates in many hours. I still have a couple of sites down, and one DSN not created. Any new info?

Sorry guys, I have been out and Manish has been working it like a madman on the server side. I will get some updates ASAP. I am here near the datacenter now, just flew in had been with family. i hit bad storms in houston and ended up sitting on the runway for almost 2.5 hours before taking off, at least they allowed us to have phones on.
manopb, submit a ticket if some if some of yours still any issue, I think most of yours should be done now but maybe wrong.
skypanther, We have started all of yours as a batch a long time back now, but several having large amount of files, it is still running sadly. They will come up as restored.
My sites are finally all back and working. The last DSN problem was due to me mistyping the database name in my ticket. 
A huge thank you to Stephen, Manish, Arijeet, and everyone else who worked on restoring wincf! I hope you all have a chance now for some sleep.
When you get a chance, would you post the new specs for the replacement server?

doh, knew i was forgetting something, it is Dualcore 2.4ghz AMD with 4GB RAM, windows 2003, CFMX7(up from 6).
it was a 2Ghz intel Xeon of the first p4 generation of xeons, the AMD CPU blows it away.
