I installed WP 2.7 and when trying to update permalink structure getting the following error:
Error 400: Bad Request
Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand.
Probable reasons are:
You sent a plain HTTP request to an SSL-enabled server port. Instead please use the HTTPS protocol to access this URL, like this: https://example.com:8443/
You made a typo in the request, e.g., typed a comma instead of a colon. Please re-check the URL.
Please contact your webmaster if you are not sure what goes wrong.
Any body else having the same problem? I played with .htaccess but no luck.
Found a thread on Wordpress where one user is stating that I need to contact my hosting provider to make changes in httpd.conf!
I am on Linux. Just now I did a fresh install of WP and same problem!!!
Didn’t face this problem in April last year (what ever version at that time was available)
I am on Web12 by the way and PHP version is 5.
Edit
Ok this time (3rd time) I installed WP directly from H Sphere control panel. I used the EasyApp option using which you can install several applications like Joomla, Wordpress e.t.c with one click. It installed WP 2.5 and it has same problem!!! There is definitely something wrong with Web12 settings
Are you a customer of ours? If you are, we can check it via our support desk or email ticket system, but if you are not a customer, we cannot help directly.
I had the same problem with part of my site. A support ticket solved it - but they won’t tell me what they did to solve it… And a day later I am having the same problem again with one of my wordpress plugins - and tech support have gone quiet on me…
I did find this: “After looking at your server, I’ve found that your host is using mod_security. It thinks that the %s in your form fields are a hacking attempt.” I don’t think it was in reference to JodoHost - but I wonder if the same applies…?
Anybody have any suggestions for solving the 400 Error problem with WordPress?
can you help me with my issue, I do not think my tech working on my ticket gets what is going on, he just asked for my login and then reset my permalinks to something basic and called it a day.
I found all that documentation and more but for some reason it is not working. I have installed many previous versions of wordpress before on other accounts. So I certainley could use some help, tech support has written me off…
