I have an existing site that has been running for years. All of a sudden it wouldn’t connect to the DB. I could log in using the same credentials via phpMyAdmin though. I reset the password, even created a new DBA user account. Again, I can log in via phpMyAdmin but Wordpress won’t connect. I can see that changes in the wp-config file are being recognized by Wordpress because if I change the host to something that new host name is output in the Wordpress connection-error page.
What gives, what’s changed?
