I can not even ping alittlebaby.com did you make any changes when you added more years to the domain last week?

Markey

It's back... I would like to know what happened so I can prevent it in the future.

My old host is still the register for the domain... I wonder if they screwed up something when I added more years last week. (Which I of course forgotten I had done)

Just so you know, the name still doesn't resolve to an IP address for me, so whatever happenend, it's not completely fixed yet.

You're right... dnsstuff and megaproxy are not seeing it. Says a server failure at ns2.jodoshared.com.

I'm not sure why I can see it here.

The Name servers look ok.

Working fine
It appears that DNS issue we had has reappeared. We'll be setting up logs today and try to track down the issue

Thanks Yash... seems to have started working around 6 Eastern time.

I'll keep a closer eye on it also.

Well I haven't been home all day and now one of my domains is not working! GRRRR!!!!

I still cannot send or receive email between my domains and at least 2 different hotmail accounts.

What happened to the reliability of Jodohost....the problems seem to keep coming and there are no reasons like in the past like a data centre shift or shifting to a new cluster.

Getting tired of having to chase down all these problems to get them fixed

please open a ticket with the domain name immediately

we'll be setting up new DNS servers if we cannot track down this issue within the next 24 to 48 hours

This problem has caught us by surprise

I'm sure it did but it looks like it is continuing to haunt you no?

I will open the ticket about the domain...just trying to get through some business email first and wanted to reply to my weird continuing email problem with my domain and 2-3 hotmail accounts.

Yes, true. PSOFT is clueless, we are clueless. We have a couple of options right now.

We've contacted another company who is investigating this issue simultaneously

Yup it is...thank you

I wouldn't call yourself clueless...more...helpless because you are at the mercy of this software. I don't know if it's Psoft, Hshere, your servers or a combination of all..or even if it is none of the above. But..I hope you can get the DNS thing fixed cuz that is kindof a huge problem as you already know ;)

we will get the DNS issue fixed, dont worry. Its purely system related. We have 3 administrators logged in right now working on it.

We hired someone who has been working with DNS servers for over 15 years. She along with our administrators put in 6 hours today and will put another 6 hours tonight

We have found alot of problems and we are basically dumping zone files and recreating them. HSphere has been creating the zone files improperly (I wouldn't say incorrectly) which could be a cause for this problem. We've had to reassign DNS roles and get rid of thousands of bogus DNS entries.

Hopefully this should be the end of it

Good to hear
Why didn't you do this a week or two ago however when the problem erupted? Were you not able to spot the problem? I found it kind of surprising that you were trying to put this under the carpet a serious issue. Also surprised you had to fall back on someone else

Sorry Yash, just concerned with the way this was handled. You've maintained much better uptime than other companies I've been with but I'd really like it to remain that way :)

We never would sweep such an issue under the carpet. I'm surprised a customer that has been with us for almost a year could think we would do such a thing

We encounter 101 problems every day 99.9% of them are solved without you even knowing. We've spent so much time and money in backup/recovery hardware, software and routines. We've invested in the best anti-virus software and external firewalls available. We have some of the most highly experienced administrators working for us. But things can go wrong.

We thought we had fixed this problem on the first go about a week ago. Infact it did disappear until today when a few sites (including yorri's) went down. We immediately contacted a specialist in DNS (who I said has been working with DNS for 15 years) who is in the US. It was 1AM at that time there and she immediately got to work (with our administrators backing her up). She put in six hours right now and will put in another 6 a little later. Thankfully she has found problems (which are pretty serious)

I don't like falling back on specialist because they don't present you a very sweet bill in the end. But we have always done this in the past and will continue to do so in the future. However experienced our admins may be, specialists need to be called in at times. We do that for security as well.
