Email accounts settings changed?

I noticed that in a clients CP, that only I access, that several alias accounts have dropped their alias setting status to an account of name only with no function. Has anyone else seen this happen??(

Further, I am unable to change the account back to a functional alias account!
 
While the issue has been closed on the support ticket system, my hope is that I can still get some kind of response as to why this happened at all.
