i wonder why we get so many gmail invite requests when we offer paid hosting services.

I frankly couldn't care less about gmail.

Nah, nor me...
I have a gmail account to see what all the fuss is about.
I don't actually use it, and since I fetch the mail using POP3 anyway I have no idea why I'd need 2200 MB of mailbox space
