HELP NEEDED - Connect to Server VS6.0

I have searched these forums and haven't exactly found what I am looking for. Can someone help me please? I would like to create a project using Visual Studio 6.0. But I cannot connect to the server. I am using the FTP server address as the server but I am getting a "Cannot contact server" error message (usually within about 3 seconds of submitting). Does anyone have any ideas?

I am new to MS development (expertise is in PHP/MySQL) but my client wants to use a MS environment. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
 
If you enable FrontPage extensions on your web site, you should be able to use Interdev from VS6 to connect.
