How to set up CNAME

I have 2 domains - one was the old website name www.oldname.org that I didn't own - I created a new site w/ a new domain name www.newname.org. Now I own the old website name that people know - both are registered at my godaddy account and I want www.oldname.org to display the new site - I've been doing website for a while, but have never touched the DNS configuration.

I assume I have to do something w/ the CNAME in the oldname.org domain? And, do I leave the godaddy account pointing to my normal dns servers?
