Mail1 Email Delay Issues

Dear Customers,

We are aware that over the last 48 hours, the condition on Mail1 has deteriorated. Incoming/outgoing email on the server is being delayed. The delays range from an hour to upto 10 hours.

The issue is due to a number of factors. we have seen a large increase in spam and incoming email hitting the server. Also, in the recent past, we performed an hsphere upgrade on this mail server that added components that have increased the stress on this server.

Ever since the hsphere upgrade, we have been working with PSOFT and trying a # of possible solutions to prevent a pending issue with mail1 like we are seeing now. This included spending thousands of dollars in hardware upgrades and many many hours by our top admins working on the issue.

We are now working to prepare a new mail1 server. This new mail1 server will have faster dual opteron 280 processors, and have a RAId1+1 configuration (compared to RAID5 on current server). We are hoping the new disk configurating will lower I/O wait times (which are high on current mail1) and reduce all delays. We have been taking additional measures such as moving webmail to a standalone server to reduce server stress as well

We are hoping to have new mail1 operational by Sunday night, just before peak monday hours. The amount of incoming email is expected to drop sharply starting saturday morning and we shouldn't see any email delays during the weekend

We greatly apologise for this issue. This issue was VERY complicated, and we are doing everything to reduce all email delays on mail1

Customers only on Mail1 are affected. Mail3, Mail4, Mail5 are all performing normally

Emails from hotmail and gmail are coming in within 20 minutes right now to mail1.
Internal emails from within a domain however are being delayed. External emails from any other domain are coming in fine, slightly delayed as mentioned.
