Map drawing software

I been searching for a software package to create (draw) maps that can be used for clients sites. Most clients' simply want a map of the local area to show the location of their business.

Has anyone else had this task and what has their solution been?

You actually want to DRAW them like by hand?
Or license some use from a company like mapquest, rand mcnalley?
 
Draw them by hand Stephen. Basically, I have some sites that offer tourist and accommodation guides, and they need maps showing accommodation locations and the like. Currently I use (poorly) corel Xara to draw the maps, but I would like something that would be quicker and make a more professional looking map.

Any vector application, fireworks, flash, can do it. Ease woul not be great, but it could do drawings that scale a lot and won't looks distorted. Fireworks might be something to look at a trial on anyway.
