occasional database connection error

We're testing (i.e. very low volume traffic) a Joomla based website on a Windows/IIS server, which mostly works fine except for the occasional MySQL database connection error for no reason we can determine.

We thought maybe it was a problem with the website server (which is one of the earlier Windows machines) so we created a new account on the newest Windows server and still have this problem.

We have well over 30 such websites running on Linux/Apache accounts and have not encountered this before. Switching this site to Linux/Apache is not yet an option as it's a phased migration of an existing website that uses ASP.

Any ideas and/or suggestions?

Windows could possibly have such due to the way it handles IIS processes for php requests.
You will have to get the real error and not the joomla hidden error to check into it further however.
