Php 5?!

Once again, we plan to introduce PHP5 once we upgrade to Hsphere 2.5

2.5 has some bugs that we are waiting to be ironed out. I can't give a time frame, but the wait shouldn't be too long.

Ok, but WHEN? I'm hearing the same 1 year ago. Psoft has developed new versions (3) a new releases : 2.5 xxxx ... but you are always saying that this versions are not mature. Please, could you explain to us wich are the reasons to don't migrate to the new versions or releases?

We are losting a lot of business oportunities because of this: php5, exchange services, etc..

PHP 5.2 was released on Nov 2, 2006

Psoft released an update to HSphere for HS 2.5 and HS 3.0 to add PHP 5.2 compatibility. (H-Sphere PHP 5 Package Updates - Positive Software Corporation)

There are several features in PHP 5 that I personally like. I know many people hosting with Jodohost have been patiently waiting for PHP 5 for several months. I understand that this is relatively "new" software and there are security concerns.

I think it would still be good idea for Jodohost to formally explain a time table for giving PHP 5 as an option.

Just my 2 cents.

I really hope that JH will enable PHP 5 soon because I need to install MediaWiki that requires PHP 5.

Can someone from JH please let us know when this would be installed?

I've also some applications which require PHP5 so I'd really appreciate if JH could provide kind of schedule about availability of PHP5.

PHP5, PHP5, PHP5

As stated before, there are plenty of apps out now that require PHP5.

I've been holding off on a few projects because Jodo has not upgraded and seeing that no timeframe or eta has been announced, it seems you guys do not care what your clients are wanting.

Please give us an ETA?

Those still getting sorted out? What's the deal here?

3.0 was released a few days ago, which was going to be JodoHost's next version I believe.
Generally they wait at least a couple of weeks for any bugs to get ironed out though.

Php 5

What will happen when Jodohost eventually offers PHP5? If I understand correctly, some of the functionality of PHP4 breaks under PHP5...I might be wrong. Will I be able to avail of PHP5 functionality under my existing hosting plan(Linux with PHP4)?

Re: Php 5

I am working some kinks our on php5 and asp.net not meshing up to well as we speak, I tried to get php4 and 5 going side by side, but the one php in CGI mode continually threw CGI errors at random, but most of the time, that is hardly useful.

Re: Php 5

check today's new server announcement :)

PHP5 will be the standard and default, but PHP4 is available if really needed to downgrade(it will require a ticket to get downgraded) , it is having some random cgi misbehaving errors but they are below 1-2% in frequency now.

Since we don't allow the custom php.ini's now, I should tell you enabled extensions(core or PECL):
bcmath, calendar, com_dotnet,ctype, date, dom, filter, ftp, gd, hash, iconv, imap, json, libxml, mcrypt, ming, mssql, mysql, odbc, pcre, reflection, session, simplexml, sockets, SPL, standard, tokenizer, wddx, xml, xmlreader, xmlwriter, xsl, zip, zlib, and lastly zend optimizer,

I am glad there is finally some movement in the PHP5 arena. I think many users were waiting for PHP5 becuase mediawiki requires it. Unfortuantly mediawiki does not run well on a windows box, so hopefully we can get a linux solution soon.

Are we at PHP 5 yet? Especially with the announcement of PHP 4 no longer being supported after this year?

This is a very good point. PHP 4 is now at EOL and with the GoPHP5 project on the go many more popular open source projects are going to start requiring PHP 5 from February onwards. What is the state of play as far as general PHP 5 availability is concerned?
