This was a config issue and has been fixed.

Can you provide more information about this "config issue"? When did it happen? When was it fixed? How many domains/cusotmers were affected?
  4. Yash

    Yash Bass

It was a config issue and just affected this customer
  5. SubSpace

It was probably another website on the same JodoHost server (and IP) showing.

Just because an issue only affects one customer doesn't make it any less important to other customers.

Wouldn't it have been better to just explain the issue rather than have us guess or propose our own ideas? Of course that would be too easy

    Ok technically what happened.

Hsphere told IIS to create the site, the site and another site got created in about the same time, one got created properly and one had a slight problem that happen very very rarely that put the wrong IP or host header in the IIS config.

Ok, that about sums it up :)

    Thank you Stephen,

I am sure we can all understand that explanation since we all at one point or another have been hit by Hsphere setup issues before which is an understandable thing given that it is software after all. I certainly don't blame JH for this but I certainly was wondering what was going on after the post being very vague stating it was just a "config" issue.

I never understood why companies choose to hide information away from their customers, think they are too stupid to understand, think that it is none of their business or one of the other many explanations I have heard in the past. I don't want to get into that argument as it has been discussed in the past on this forum BUT since this is an open forum and it was brought up in public, I would rather understand where the problem occured which this explanation cleared up.

Actually I am much more suspicious of a company when they hide things than when they just come out and give explanations (even if they have good reason..how am I supposed to know otherwise??) . It certainly builds a stronger trust with me and I am sure many others at the same time when information is shared openly as you have just done so thank you.

Yorri, Stephen is speculating what could have caused the config issue. If anyone of us knew for sure what caused this one very very rare configuration incident to happen, I would have posted it on the forum

Yes I was speculating on exact points of it, but that is basics of what happens any time there is such an error.
    Thanks for clarifying Yash.

One thing to remember in all cases, Hsphere is a "100% Automated" control panel, things happen sometimes that are not as they should be.

I can assure you there is no admin going behind messing things up or redirecting traffic.

OK so why not say that you didn't know in the first place? There is no need to answer that. I have already made and proved my point that I was trying to do in many other threads without any luck because some people obviously don't understand why I say certain things (**cough** happy day thread **cough**) and consider it "whining".

Better communication is all some of us have been asking for for a long long time.
  14. Ron

    Ron Perch

yorri, I really don't understand the point of some of your posts.

I have no problems with JodoHost's communication, they are excellent by my standards and they have always kept us up-to-date on issues. Support has been very good here as well.

Davef139 complained of a problem with a website, it was resolved by Jodo staff and the case should be closed. Why does this have to drag on.

I think a config issue is a good enough explanation. I personally don't understand some technical explanations Yash might give and if I was told my domain wasn't configured properly, I would have been happy enough and accept that. I don't see what Jodo is hiding nor do I see any reason for Yash to say "this was a config issue and we don't know why it happened"
  15. Yash

    Yash Bass

This was a very very specific issue affecting a very specific customer and a very specific domain hosted by him. He was answered via a ticket and also on this forum. I believe he has been satisified with the answer considering he has not written back.

Would you like me to mass-mail everyone about an issue that caused one domain to be misconfigured out of the so many domains added to the server everyday?

I am not trying to be sarcastic. I accept criticism, we all accept criticism here at JodoHost but I don't see anything that could have be done better here.

Did I ask that?? No. We just asked what "config problem" was.

First it was ignored as irrelevant (by the ambiguos answer), then Stephen speculates on the problem causing more problems and then you state that you didn't know what caused it. That is 2 different stories. Sorry if you can't see why I don't like communication like this.

I would prefer that if something is discussed in the PUBLIC forum that we be given an answer (again remember I wasn't the one that asked for an answer...I am not the only one here) so that we don't have to "drag on" until we get it. That's all. I don't think this is too much to ask, and if the policy is not to discuss these things, then delete/close the thread.

Oh, and furthermore, Just because it affected this one persons site doesn't mean it couldn't happen to ours which is why I am sure some of us are/were concerned. There was not enough information so we asked.

See above where I talk about 2 different stories

Oh my - here you go again!!! And thank you Ron and Yash!

I was beginning to think I was the only person that was irritated by yorri's constant whining... :D

Since when is asking for clarification whining?

I hate to get into such arguments but I find this a little ridiculous

I found JodoHost's communication excellent from Day 1. If you had problems, you were probably the only one. I remember WineIsGood pointed out that JodoHost had excellent communication on scheduled outages in the early days of JodoHost.

I don't think Yash nor stephen is contradicting each other or posting two stories. Yash didn't speculate, Stephen did.

You really make things seem if they are so terribly wrong when they are not and I object to that. JodoHost has potential customers browsing their forums and the view they get from what you are saying is that communication is utter crap here which it is not! I have had far better communication and support here then anywhere else! The forum greatly enhances that

I find Logan's question acceptable as it was out of concern. He wanted to know if it was affecting other customers which Yash said it was not. But you have taken this issue and launched an assault

Don't take me wrongly, I have nothing against you. If you want to criticise JodoHost, you should also take some criticism from me on your criticism :)
